From the President:
As we move towards the end of 2025 and we reflect on another successful year for the Society some special thanks are due to those who have contributed their time and hard work that we might all enjoy the benefits of membership.
Our Secretary Paul, who we must chain to his desk if he ever threatens to resign again.
Paul, where would we be without your organisational skills. Your continued support is vital to the success of Norfolk Golf Captains.
A big thank you to our President Kevin and Captain Jack for their splendid golf days and for being the “Face” of the Society to front up the golf events around the County and beyond. Jack also ensured the solvency of the Society with his excellent accounting skills.
To Pat for making sure we all looked well-dressed on the Course and to all the Match Managers, thank you.
My own personal thanks to you all for supporting my election as your President in 2026. I was honoured to be appointed in what will be a special year for Norfolk Golf Captains as we celebrate 50 years existence. There are some great courses lined up for the year including special celebrations for our Founders Day at Thetford G.C. on the 19th May.
We kick off the season at Sheringham for the JPS. It will be lovely to go back to where the trophy was first presented. Other special dates for your diaries are Captains day on the 13th July and my Presidents day at Eaton Golf Club on the 7th September. Please put the dates in your diaries.
I am looking forward to working with Captain Nigel Elmar, Vice-President Colin Waters and Vice-Captain Richard Brown and to catching up with you all in April at Sheringham.
Terry Hewitt, President 2026
From the Captain:
It is a great privilege and an honour to be taking over as the Captain of the Norfolk Golf Captains.
I first joined the Norfolk Golf Captains back in 1994 when I was Captain at Fakenham. After playing a few games, I took a break until 2014 when I became Captain at Dereham GC. I must specifically thank Ian Alderton for encouraging me to rejoin—I have truly enjoyed playing in the matches, both within and outside the County. I have made countless friends through these games and hope to continue playing with the NGC for many years to come.
If there are any past or present Captains thinking about joining, please do so. You will be made very welcome, and it truly is great fun.
The Charity that Terry and I have chosen is Priscilla Bacon Lodge in Norwich, a cause that is very close to both our hearts. We ask for your generous support, as every contribution, large or small, helps this wonderful organisation.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Paul, Jack, and Kevin for their exceptional efforts over the past year. Your individual contributions over the last twelve months have been invaluable. Without people like you, the success of our group would not be possible.
Let us all look forward to a happy and healthy 2026. As this year marks our 50th Anniversary, let’s make it truly special!
